The Prodigy’s Liam Howlett Scores Brit Horror Thriller CHOOSE OR DIE
CHOOSE OR DIE (formerly titled CURS>R) is an upcoming British horror thriller film directed by Toby Meakins in his feature directorial debut. The film has to do with Kayla, a broke college student, who decides to play an obscure 1980s survival computer game in pursuit of an unclaimed $100,000 prize. After a series of unexpectedly terrifying moments, Kayla soon realizes she’s no longer playing for the money, but for her own life. The film features the scoring debut of Liam Howlett, the founding member of the EDM band The Prodigy which was formed in 1990.

DUNE Wins Best Score at British BAFTAs
Hans Zimmer has won the British BAFTA Award for best original score for DUNE. It’s his first BAFTA win after twelve nominations (across film, tv, and games); DUNE won five awards in total – aside from best score, it won best cinematography, production design, sound, and special visual effects.

Roque Baños Scores Horror Thriller UMMA
UMMA, an upcoming American supernatural horror film written and directed by Iris K. Shim, is about a Korean immigrant, Amanda, and her daughter who live on a rural farm, raising bees and living without modern technology. When Amanda receives the cremated ashes of her estranged mother, it unleashes a vicious spirit intent on taking her body for itself. Roque Baños has scored the film, which is scheduled for release on March 18, 2022, by Sony Pictures Releasing.

Adams Family-Made Coming of Age Vampire Witch HELLBENDER Scored by co-director/co-writer John Adams
“At the very beginning of creating HELLBENDER we all knew we wanted the musical soundtrack to drive the joyful aspect of the mother/daughter relationship,” said John Adams. “Fun, revealing, dark lyrics tucked into tribal grooves or a sparse warped acoustic guitar. The band music had to be primitive and stripped down so it could actually be just the two of them. Keeping it simple really helped to keep a fluid tone to the main numbers and was incredibly fun to record.”

Composer Michael Giacchino Reportedly to Direct Marvel’s WEREWOLF BY NIGHT
A number of sources have reported today that Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino will direct Disney’s upcoming WEREWOLF BY NIGHT Halloween special. Based on the 1972-1977 Marvel comics series (one of several Universal monster comics that Marvel published in the ‘70s), the studio has cast Gael García Bernal and Laura Donnelly in undisclosed roles.

THE CURSED is an American-French horror film directed and written by Sean Ellis (ANTHROPOID, METRO MANILLA). The film premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival under the title EIGHT FOR SILVER; when LD Entertainment purchased the film last January, the title was changed to THE CURSED. Netflix’s new sci-fi spy series IN FROM THE COLD is coming to streaming on January 28. The series tells the story of an American single mom, exposed as an ex-Russian spy, who must juggle family life and her unique shape-shifting skills in a battle against an insidious enemy. Netflix Live Action COWBOY BEBOP Is Scored by Yôko Kanno – Who Scored Original Anime Series
Yôko Kanno, who scored the original anime show, is the composer for the new series, and its original theme song, “Tank!” is retained as the series’ opening song. The song, written by Yôko Kanno and performed by Seatbelts, has an extensive alto saxophone solo played by Masato Honda, as well as a fill part at the end. The song is a big band jazz piece in a Latin-infused hard bop style with a rhythm section that combines a double bass and bongo drums.

After distributors failed to deliver, the animated film ANINMAL CRACKERS, scored by Bear McCreary in 2017, has been acquired by Netflix and will stream on the service July 24. The film is composer Bear McCreary’s first animated feature, which McCreary, posting in a 2018 tweet, regarded as “the most insane score I’ve ever written! Tyler Bates (DEADPOOL, JOHN WICK, 300, WATCHMEN) is set to score James Gunn’s upcoming DC Extended Universe superhero movie, THE SUICIDE SQUAD. The film stars Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman and Jai Courtney who reprise their roles from the original 2016 movie. Steven Price composed the music for the original David Ayer-directed 2016 SUICIDE SQUAD film. BBC has broadcast their new DRACULA miniseries over three days beginning on January 1st, 2020. Netflix will launch the show on their streaming site tonight, January 4th. The series consists of three episodes.
