Jon Ekstrand set to score Marvel’s MORBIUS

MORBIUS is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is intended to be the second film in Sony’s Marvel Universe (after 2018’s VENOM). The film is being directed by Daniel Espinosa (LIFE, SAFE HOUSE, CHILD 44) from a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, and stars Jared Leto in the title role alongside Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson.

Originally introduced as a villain in Spider-Man comics, Morbius is a brooding and tragically flawed yet heroic antihero in his own series and other comics titles. The character was a former award-winning biochemist named Michael Morbius imbued with pseudo-vampiric superhuman abilities and physical traits stemming from a failed biochemical experiment which was intended to cure his rare blood disorder.

Jon Ekstrand (LIFE, BLIND ALLEY, QUEEN OF HEARTS) is on board to compose the score for MORBIUS after scoring most of Espinosa’s previous films.
MORBIUS is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 31, 2020.
