THE OLD WAYS – Original Vinyl Soundtrack Released – by Ben Lovett

Burning Witches Records has announced a vinyl original motion picture soundtrack to THE OLD WAYS by Ben Lovett.

In line with previous scores to THE RITUAL and THE WIND, Ben Lovett has created the soundtrack to your next set of demonic nightmares. When Cristina Lopez (Brigitte KaliCanales), a Mexican American reporter, goes to her ancestral homeland of Veracruz for a story on witchcraft and faith healers, it’s not long before she finds herself abducted by locals. They claim that she is possessed by a demon and they must exorcise her before they can set her free.

Ben Lovett’s score takes you deep into Bruja (witch) territory of Mexican folklore. Live percussion and traditional clay flutes will keep you on your toes before warm piano and cellos draw you in for the final blow of the terrifying death whistle. “I got involved with THE OLD WAYS when director Christopher Alender played me a recording of an ancient Mexican death whistle and I thought it was the most terrifying thing I’d ever heard,” said Lovett. “They’re a relic of old world spiritual practice intended to ward off demons and the sound they make is the stuff of nightmares. I was onboard immediately.”

THE OLD WAYS premiered in October 2020, playing numerous festivals, and premiered on Netflix on October 12, 2021. It received numerous positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. A digital soundtrack was released by Lovers Label & Entertainment One in August 2021; the film is also available on DVD and Blu-Ray.
