BATMAN NINJA Soundtrack Due Out June 13
The latest DC Animated Movie is the unique BATMAN NINJA, a film written and created by anime masters in Japan. The story is set during feudal Japan after a modern-day Quake Engine time displacement device sends Batman and many of his colleagues and super-villains back in time, where Batman must conquer the ultra-powerful Joker, Penguin, and others to keep his own time from being thoroughly altered.
The film was released in the United States in digital format on April 24, 2018; it was released in physical formats on May 8 and will be released theatrically in Japan on June 15. The American release was essentially rewritten from Kazuki Nakashima’s original Japanese script, ultimately making two entirely different versions of the same film, each with a unique perspective. Both versions are included on the American and UK BD/DVD release (when you watch, be sure to stay for the mid-credits coda).
The film contains an excellent score by composer Yugo Kanna (a long time composer of Japanese TV, films, and anime media; no relation to female composer Yoko Kanno of COWBOY BEBOP and MACROSS PLUS fame); the music is a hybrid synthesis of heroic themes, massive action and battle material, and traditional Japanese ethnic music – a vivid mix that saturates the film with an exciting groove and thrilling sonic dynamic.
A soundtrack album will be released on CD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on June 13th. It can be can be pre-ordered now from cdjapan and likely will be offered through amazon and eBay sellers close to its release date.
