DUNE Wins Best Score at British BAFTAs
The 75th British Academy Film Awards, also known as the BAFTA Awards (British Academy of Film & Television Awards), which by the way we believe did not push any of their award winners to an off-air segment prior to the telecast [ahem], was held on March 13th 2022 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, honoring the best national and foreign films of 2021.
Hans Zimmer has won the British BAFTA Award for best original score for DUNE. It’s his first BAFTA win after twelve nominations (across film, tv, and games); DUNE won five awards in total – aside from best score, it won best cinematography, production design, sound, and special visual effects.
Other major awards include THE POWER OF THE DOG won best film and best director for Jane Campion, Sir Kenneth Branagh’s BELFAST was named outstanding British film, Will Smith was awarded best actor for KING RICHARD, Joanna Scanlan was named best actress for AFTER LOVE, Ariana DeBose on best supporting actress for WEST SIDE STORY, best supporting actor was awarded to Troy Kotsur for CODA. Best Costume Design went to Jenny Beavan for CRUELLA. ENCANTO won Best Animated Film. James Bond’s latest outing NO TIME TO DIE won for Best Editing (Tom Cross & Elliot Graham).
