Michael Giacchino to Score Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN
Michael Giacchino confirmed at tonight’s Settling the Score concert at Royal Albert Hall in London that he will be scoring the upcoming superhero movie THE BATMAN. Directed by Matt Reeves, the movie stars Robert Pattinson in the title role, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. Dylan Clark (OBLIVION, BIRD BOX) is producing the project. Giacchino has previously collaborated with Reeves on his last four features DAWN OF and WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES, SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME, JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, ROGUE ONE A STAR WARS STORY, DOCTOR STRANGE).
Matt Reeves has stated that his Batman movie will be a point-of-view driven noir tale with heavy focus on Batman’s detective work. He opted not to use the script Affleck had been preparing when he was set to direct, preferring to start fresh with his own story. Plot details have not yet been divulged; it is believed that the film will be set in the 1990s and will follow a younger iteration of Batman as he focuses on a mystery that requires him to use his detective skills against a number of classic villains.
THE BATMAN is scheduled to be released on June 25, 2021 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
