Bear McCreary (GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS, THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX, HAPPY DEATH DAY, EUROPA REPORT, TV’s BATTLESTAR GALACTICA) will be scoring the forthcoming reboot of CHILD’s PLAY.

The film is directed by Lars Klevberg (POLAROID) from a script by Tyler Burton Smith. Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry and Gabriel Bateman star in the new film, which also features Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky.

Childs Play 2019 poster.jpg“Chucky haunted my dreams when I was a kid, ever since his devilish little face peered out at me from a torn VHS cover at my local video store,” McCreary said. “Now, thirty years later, I have a remarkable opportunity to contribute to his musical legacy. “Inspired by the Chucky’s toy-store origins, I’ve assembled a ‘toy orchestra,’ of toy pianos, hurdy gurdies, accordions, plastic guitars, and otamatones, that will be featured prominently in the score. I hope that these creepy, unique tones will help terrify the next generation of CHILD’S PLAY fans!”

This horror thriller is based on the 1988 classic (scored by Joe Renzetti) which prompted half a dozen sequels, dealing with a Good Guys doll named Chucky that has been possessed by the soul of a notorious, dying serial killer. The reboot was written by Tyler Burton Smith with David Katzenberg (IT, THE GOLDBERGS) and Seth Grahame-Smith (THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE, ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER) producing.

The new film is scheduled for release on June 21, 2019 by Orion Pictures.
