Chinese SF Blockbuster THE WANDERING EARTH Opens in US – Soundtrack Now Available
Directed by Frant Gwo (LEE’S ADVENTURE, MY OLD CLASSMATE) and based on a short story by Hugo and multiple Galaxy award-winning Chinese science fiction writer, Cixin Liu, THE WANDERING EARTH, considered China’s first major science fiction movie, is a massively effects-full disaster adventure. Set in a distant future — one in which China plays a key role in interplanetary affairs — the story revolves around the imminent explosion of the sun. In order to avoid the solar disaster, people all around the world have built giant planet thrusters to move Earth out of its orbit and to sail Earth to a new star system [this is science fiction, remember]. Yet the 2500-year’s journey came with unexpected dangers, and in order to save humanity, a group of young people in this age of a wandering Earth came out boldly and fought hard for everyone’s survival.”
The film’s musical score has been composed by Roc Chen (SWITCH, LEGENDARY AMAZONS, addl. music CHINESE ZODIAC) and Tao Liu (SLIPAWAY, REALMS, PARADISE). Chen conducted and recorded the score with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios; a digital soundtrack of Chen’s music is now available at cdbaby
The film opened in the US on Feb 8.
