Stranger Themes 2

Lakeshore Records, in conjunction with Invada Records, has released a double-album digital soundtrack album for the original Netflix series STRANGER THINGS Season 2. A CD version will be available later this year, with an LP also forthcoming. The album features the original score by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, members of the Austin experimental synth band S U R V I V E.

“In Season 2 we’re introducing new styles of composition, while still revisiting old themes when appropriate,” said the composers. “We’ve created new elements to support the story, but still want to remain true to the sound of Season 1.”

EMMY®-winning and Grammy®-nominated Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, half of the Austin band S U R V I V E, traveled back in musical time to score the award-winning Netflix original series STRANGER THINGS. Series creators The Duffer Brothers tapped the duo due to their classic synths spun into distinctly modern sounds—and the resulting alchemy produced a Primetime Emmy Award win for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music, two Grammy nominations for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media, an ASCAP Composers’ Choice Award nomination for TV Composer(s) of the Year, and a World Soundtrack Award nomination for TV Composer(s) of the Year.

Dixon and Stein, both Texas natives, were born in the early 1980s when the inspirations for “Stranger Things” were being made. They met as teenagers and both gravitated towards the analog, electronic tones of their childhoods. S U R V I V E has quickly exploded from being a hip Austin act to touring the U.S. and Europe, and the band recently released their second studio album, “RR7349.”

STRANGER THINGS Season 2 debuts globally on Netflix on October 27.

BONUS TRACKS/DISC DELUXE EDITION

Recall, if you will, your childhood revelries of Halloween. The costumes, the candy, the peeled grapes masquerading as eyeballs… but most importantly, the SOUNDS. The pre-recorded tapes and CDs that looped the howling of the wind, the tittering of bats, atmospheric surreal ambience that set the mood just so.

Surprisingly, these “Halloween compilations” seem to be a thing of the past… until now. STRANGER THINGS’ Dixon and Stein have revived the art form as if they were necromancers raising the dead. They have manifested 15 cerebral and haunting Halloween tunes to delight and frighten your guests and ghouls this spooky season – and these 15 additional tracks are tacked onto end of the 34-song STRANGER THINGS Season 2 album by way of a deluxe addition. This sonic treasure is available now on Apple music; the non-deluxe version of the soundtrack can be ordered through amazon
