New Genre CD Releases from Dragon’s Domain Records
Dragon’s Domain Records has announced its new August soundtrack releases – four sci-fi/horror genre offerings. The releases include:
SYMPTOMS, featuring music composed and produced by John Scott (ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA, GREYSTOKE: THE LEGEND OF TARZAN, THE FINAL COUNTDOWN, SHOOT TO KILL) for the 1974 British horror film co-written and directed by José Ramón Larraz (WHIRLPOOL, VAMPYRES, EDGE OF THE AXE), starring Lorna Helbron, Angela Pleasance, Ronald O’Neil, Peter Vaughan and Marie-Paule Mailleux.
THE ALBERT GLASSER COLLECTION, VOLUME 5: SCIENCE FICTION ATOMIC MUTATION II. With this fifth collection of the composer’s music, we are pleased to explore two more films that he scored for director Bert I. Gordon in 1957 and 1958. Most of Gordon’s celebrated work was in the idiom of giant monster films. Albert Glasser consistently made musical magic out of limited resources and onrushing deadlines as one of Hollywood’s most prolific B-movie composers. THE ALBERT GLASSER COLLECTION, VOLUME 5 features expanded releases of Glasser’s music for THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN and WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST.
CRAIG SAFAN: HORROR MACABRE VOLUME 1, featuring music composed by Craig Safan for two projects from his extensive filmography. CRAIG SAFAN: HORROR MACABRE VOLUME 1 includes music from DARKROOM, the short-lived horror anthology from 1981 along with Craig’s score for his very first film, THE DEMON’S DAUGHTER.
GODZILLA & FRIENDS VS. GHIDORAH – BUKIMISHA: THE SPIRITUAL VOICES OF AKIRA IFUKUBE: After the success of Bukimisha’s first album for BSX Records, we are proud to present more unique performances of the classic film music created by maestro Akira Ifukube. Released for the first time, outside of Japan, the complete scores to GHIDORAH, THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER (1964) and INVASION OF ASTRO-MONSTER (1965) have, once again, been painstakingly recreated using only what some have called the original acoustical instrument — the human voice.
(I admit my involvement in writing liner notes for two of these CDs, but I am pleased to report on the label’s genre releases, as I have in the past, regardless of my association! – rdl)
