Trailer Released for Guillermo del Toro’s NIGHTMARE ALLEY – Score by Alexandre Desplat
Director Guillermo del Toro is reteaming with composer Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King’s Speech, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Godzilla) for his upcoming psychological thriller NIGHTMARE ALLEY. The film is based on the 1946 novel of the same name by William Lindsay Gresham and stars Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Willem Dafoe, Toni Collette, Richard Jenkins, Ron Perlman and David Strathairn. The movie follows an ambitious young carny with a talent for manipulating people with a few well-chosen words as he hooks up with a female psychiatrist who is even more dangerous than he is. Desplat previously scored del Toro’s fantasy feature, THE SHAPE OF WATER, for which the composer won his second Academy Award. He is also collaborating with del Toro on the upcoming Netflix animated feature PINOCCHIO.
NIGHTMARE ALLEY is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on December 17, 2021 by Searchlight Pictures.
Also coming up for Desplat is Wes Anderson’s THE FRENCH DISPATCH and Martin Bourboulon’s EIFFEL.
