Bear McCreary Scoring Amazon’s THE DARK TOWER Pilot
Recent word has it that Bear McCreary (GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, COLOSSAL, THE WALKING DEAD, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA) has been brought in to score the forthcoming Amazon pilot THE DARK TOWER. The show was developed by Glen Mazzara (THE WALKING DEAD, Season 3) based on Stephen King’s book of the same title, with Stephen Hopkins (PREDATOR 2, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 5) directing the pilot. The series is intended to serve as a reboot of the poorly-received 2017 movie adaptation, with Sam Strike (NIGHTFLYERS) and Jasper Pääkkönen (VIKINGS) being cast as Roland Deschain (played by Idris Elba in the movie) and The Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey in the movie) respectively. Jerome Flynn (GAME OF THRONES) has been cast in an undisclosed role.
In a story posted last June at deadline.com, the series is planned to take place many years before the events depicted in the film, and will focus on Deschain’s origin story– how he first became a gunslinger and got his guns, his first conflict with The Man In Black, his first love, and his first mission as a gunslinger.”
No release date has been set for THE DARK TOWER TV series. The series will air on Amazon Prime, which is expected to announce soon whether the project will be picked up to series.
