Bear McCreary’s OUTLANDER Season 5 digital soundtrack released
– Randall D. Larson
Last Friday Sony Classical released the soundtrack by Bear McCreary (THE WALKING DEAD, GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS, BLACK SAILS, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., BATTLESTAR GALACTICA) of OUTLANDER Season 5, which concluded earlier this month.
OUTLANDER is a historical fantasy drama TV series based on the novel series of the same name by Diana Gabaldon. Developed by Ronald D. Moore (STAR TREK, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA), the show premiered in 2014 on Starz and has to do with a married former World War II nurse who in 1945 finds herself transported back to Scotland in 1743, where she encounters the Highland warrior Jamie Fraser and becomes embroiled in the Jacobite risings.
McCreary has scored each season of the series, which was recently renewed for a sixth season. “I’ve put a lot of my soul into OUTLANDER cues over the years,” said McCreary in a Facebook post. “And this season, if I had to pick one that had the most profound impact on me while writing, it would definitely be the 9min epic ‘The Fiery Cross,’ featuring the powerful baritone of my friend Griogair Labhruidh. Crank this up nice and loud.”
The digital soundtrack is available from on Amazon and other download services.
