Two Modern French Classic Horror Scores Announced from Omega Prods – CD and Vinyl

MARYRS & GHOSTLAND cds

Omega Productions Records has announced for the first time on a physical medium the definitive soundtrack edition of MARTYRS (2008) composed by the French duo Seppuku Paradigm (Alex and Willie Cortés).

Directed in 2008 by Pascal Laugier, MARTYRS is with little doubt the most controversial French horror film of its decade. Beyond the symbolism of its subject or the hyperrealism of its special effects, the movie represents the love between two friends, within an increasingly dehumanized society.

The score composed by the Cortés brothers results from the vision of its director, sometimes cold and austere, sometimes organic and even melancholic. Thought more by its creators as a concept album rather than a simple sound illustration, the soundtrack ends with the track “Your Witness,” with its pop-Floydian accents. The song “My Neighbourhood,” by composer Goldmund, is also present for the first time.

Resulting from a close collaboration for over a year between the Cortés brothers, Goldmund, and The Omega Productions Records, this digipack edition contains the full score on CD, including a 12-pages booklet and liner notes reviewing the process of creating the album by Willie Cortés.

Collector’s edition strictly limited to 500 digipack copies. The first 100 copies will be signed by Seppuku Paradigm.

The full soundtrack is also available on 150gr vinyl with a minimalist design created by Grégory Lê and some liner notes reviewing the process of creating the album by Willie Cortés. The gatefold cover contains a mark in real chrome derived from the cold aesthetic imagined by Pascal Laugier.

The second release, also presented for the first time on physical media, is the soundtrack GHOSTLAND (2018) composed by Georges Boukoff, Anthony d’Amario and Ed Rig.

Produced ten years after MARTYRS, Pascal Laugier’s GHOSTLAND is the latest shock of the French new horror wave, this new gothic and demonstrative nightmare affirms itself in the reflection of the previous hit film of the director. Featuring a headlined by the iconic French pop singer Mylène Farmer, GHOSTLAND offers the radical vision of genre cinema while generating a metaphor on innocence and achieving one’s dreams. A graphic tale for adults.

In perfect harmony with the dark images of Pascal Laugier, the soundtrack is the work of three composers from different worlds: Georges Boukoff, classical concertist, Anthony d’Amario and Ed Rig, self-taught young people. Oscillating between pure moments of anxiety, a minimalism inherited from John Carpenter and sublime macabre waltzes, their compositions are crossed by multiple influences.

Resulting from a close collaboration for over a year between the music team and The Omega Productions Records, this digipack edition contains the full score composed by the trio on CD, including a 12-pages booklet, liner notes from composers and exclusive photos from the set.

Collector’s edition strictly limited to 500 digipack copies. The first 100 copies will be signed by the composers.

The soundtrack is also available on double 150gr vinyl, within a design created by Grégory Lê. The gatefold vinyl edition is strictly limited to 1000 copies, in matte finishing.

Streaming and digital download versions of both soundtracks will be announced soon.
