Soundtrack to Tobe Hoopers Final Film DJINN Released – Score by BC Smith
Available as a limited pressing of 250 CDs, Howlin’ Wolf Records proudly present the world-premiere release of BC Smith’s score for Tobe Hooper’s supernatural horror film DJINN (2013)
The film has to do with an Emirati couple who return home from a trip and discover that their new apartment has been built on a site that is home to some malevolent beings.
Composer BC Smith (1999’s THE MOD SQUAD, AMATEUR, SMOKE SIGNALS) has created a chilling, evocative backdrop comprising of sparse, otherworldly electronic palettes, meticulously layered in a complex yet cohesive sonic confection to heighten the suspense and underline the heroine’s gradual descent into madness. Juxtaposed against these vividly jagged textures are passages of warmth and melodic charm, underlining scenes of family and love, colored by that most domestic of musical instruments, the piano. For Tobe Hooper’s final film, Smith has crafted a modern vernacular for an ancient evil, at once vivid and poignant, thoughtful and provocative.
DJINN features liner notes written by composer BC Smith with a forward by Benjamin Chee, all beautifully packaged with designs by Javier Burgos. As a special offer, a limited number of CDs will be opened and signed by the composer prior to shipping.
