Expanded Soundtrack for Robert O. Ragland’s Q – THE WINGED SERPENT coming from Kronos Records in August

“You’ll just have time to scream… before it tears you apart!” – tagline

Kronos Records is extremely proud to release the soundtrack of Larry Cohen’s 1982 monster movie Q THE WINGED SERPENT [aka, simply: Q], featuring music by the very talented and under-represented composer Robert O. Ragland (1931-2012).

Kronos KG30 Q The Winged SerpentStarring Michael Moriarty, Candy Clark, Richard Roundtree, David Carradine, and featuring cool stop-motion visual effects by David Allen and Peter Kuran, the film tells of the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl, a winged, dragon-like, female lizard, which takes up residence in the art-deco spire of the Chrysler Building, with frequent jaunts in the midday sun to devour various hapless New Yorkers.

Ragland’s orchestral score is a real show of force, and the film also carries a charm of its own, belonging to the early 80’s. The score is a strong, very melodic and rhythmic one. A fine example of Ragland’s skill at writing a big orchestral score that never fails to entertain and thrill. Kronos’ release features over half an hour of previously unreleased material that was not included on the previous CD release of this score, 21 years ago on CAM. Kronos has also included the song “Let’s Fall Apart Together,” previously featured only on the 1983 Cerberus LP soundtrack.

The album is presented in a limited edition of 300 copies. For more details, sample tracks, and to order, see Kronos records

Along with Q, Kronos has announced two further August releases: GIUDA UCCIDE IL VENERDI (aka MACRO), a drama scored by Nico Fidenco, and Andrew Powell’s score for the short science fiction film, HERE WE GO AGAIN, RUBINOT, which (along with LADYHAWKE and Intrada’s recent release of ROCKET GIBRALTAR) makes each of Powell’s three film scores available on CD.
