Richard Band’s GHOST WARRIOR Gets a Sonic Overhaul, and Poe’s HAUNTING OF MORELLA Premiere’s a Fine Orchestral Score

Among Dragon’s Domain Records’ April releases is an updated soundtrack to GHOST WARRIOR, the 1984 movie about a noble Samurai, frozen in ice in 1552, awakened by science in 1984 where he can only defend himself at swordpoint after he runs afoul of a local street gang and, ultimately, the LAPD. Composed by Richard Band during his seminal orchestral scoring days of the early ‘80s, the score is a fusion of symphonic orchestral music (performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Shirley Walker), ethnic Japanese flutes and percussion, and an array of unusual percussion instruments invented and constructed by early 20th Century American composer Harry Partch.

Dragon’s Domain Records brings the soundtrack to GHOST WARRIOR back to the marketplace with the music freshly remixed by Matt LaPoint from the score’s original 8-track masters, which the composer was only recently able to find, digitally remastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland, including liner notes written by author Randall D. Larson, with the participation of the composer. For details, to order, and to sample tracks, see buysoundtrax

Also announced by Dragon’s Domain is the premiere release of Fredric Ensign Teetsel’s orchestral score to Roger Corman’s 1990 Poe adaptation, THE HAUNTING OF MORELLA. Directed by Jim Wynorski and based on themes by Chuck Cirino, the film merges Colonial Americana Gothic horror with director Wynorski’s penchant for tasteful nudity and erotic storytelling results in a bizarre tale of ghostly resurrection, blood sacrifice, and fiery death. Teetsel’s connections as an arranger and composer for professional performing orchestras in Arizona allowed the film to have a powerfully period-supporting orchestral score.

Dragon’s Domain Records is excited to bring THE HAUNTING OF MORELLA to compact disc for the first time, mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland with exclusive liner notes by author Randall D. Larson, with the participation of the composers.

THE HAUNTING OF MORELLA is a limited edition release of 500 units. As a special offer, the first 50 people to order the album from the record label’s website will have their copy autographed by the composers at no additional charge.
