Reissued Heisei GAMERA box set, world premiere soundtrack to LEGEND OF DINOSAURS AND MONSTER BIRDS from Cinema-KAN

Japanese label Cinema-KAN, noted for its series of expanded CD soundtracks of Japanese kaiju, ghost, and war movie scores, has released a boxed set reissue of the “Heisei” era Gamera trilogy (GAMERA: GUARDIAN OF THE UNIVERSE, GAMERA 2: ATTACK OF THE LEGION, GAMERA 3: REVENGE OF IRIS), featuring the score composed by Kow Otani (SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS, GODZILLA, MOTHRA AND KING GHIDORAH: GIANT MONSTERS ALL-OUT ATTACK). The new CD is fully digitally remastered in UHQCD (Ultimate High Quality CD), and packaged in a newly-designed box.

The box set is available from ArkSquare, CDJapan, Amazon Japan, Screen Archives, and other soundtrack CD sellers.

Also newly released from Cinema-KAN is the world premiere of the original soundtrack to 1977’s LEGEND OF DINOSAURS AND MONSTER BIRDS, composed by Masao Yagi (DELINQUENT BOSS, GANGSTER COP, YAKUZA LAW), who provides a modern, electro-jazz styled score with plenty of funk & fusion (listen to a track on youtube here). The new CD contains previously unreleased music; the only prior release of the film’s music was a Japanese single of 2 tracks from Bourbon Records, performed by noted drummer and vocalist Eiichi Miyanaga. Directed by Junji Kurata (THE BLACK MASK OF THE BAT, TV’s ZATÔICHI MONOGATARI), the movie is about a Japanese village being menaced by a plesiosaur from the depths of the sea. Meanwhile, a pterosaur begins to hatch from an egg deep in a cave of ice. The two prehistoric creatures are destined to clash…

The soundtrack CD is available from ArkSquare , CDJapan , Amazon Japan, and other soundtrack CD sellers.
