BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC: Mark Isham’s Highly Anticipated Score Debuts Digitally
Grammy® Winner Mark Isham has released his score to BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC digitally via Lakeshore Records. The soundtrack release coincides with the On Demand and theatrical premiere of the movie, the third installment of the cult science fiction/comedy film franchise. In this film, two time-traveling, would-be rockers from San Dimas, California find themselves as middle-aged dads still trying to crank out a hit song and fulfill their destiny.
Veteran composer Mark Isham is known for his score to Academy Award®-winning A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT (1992), NELL (1994), Academy Award®-nominated THE BLACK DAHLIA (2006), where Isham was awarded “Best Score” by the International Film Music Critics Association, and more recently, Composer on the popular ONCE UPON A TIME series (2011- ). In addition to his seven GRAMMY® nominations, he won a GRAMMY® in 1997 for “Best New Age Performance,” and in 2007 he won Composer of the Year at the Hollywood Film Awards. Other recent credits are the series GODFATHER OF HARLEM for Epix, and the Disney+ film TOGO [see my enthusiastic review of this score in my February Soundtrax column- rdl].
Isham’s collective contributions to the film music community were recognized by his peers when he was awarded the highest honor for a composer by The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), the prestigious Henry Mancini Career Achievement Award for musical excellence. He is currently Emmy® nominated for his score for the Hulu limited series LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE, which he co-scored with Isabella Summers (of Florence and The Machine).
This is Isham’s first score for the BILL & TED franchise; the first two films, BILL & TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE and BILL & TED’S BOGUS JOURNEY, were composed by David Newman.
