STAR TREK: PRODIGY Soundtrack Released – Theme by Michael Giacchino, Score by Nami Melumad
The series was launched as part of executive producer Alex Kurtzman’s expanded Star Trek Universe, with the Hageman brothers were set as creators and showrunners. Nickelodeon ordered two seasons of Prodigy that April. The series uses computer animation, differing from previous Star Trek animation, and the show is intended for younger audiences than the rest of the franchise.
The soundtrack album, from Viacom International, will feature the show’s main title theme composed by Academy Award winner Michael Giacchino (UP, LOST, THE INCREDIBLES, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, JURASSIC WORLD, INSIDE OUT, RATATOUILLE, DOCTOR STRANGE), as well as selections of the series’ original score written by Nami Melumad (AN AMERICAN PICKLE, ABSENTIA, MISS ARIZONA), who was hired after impressing Kurtzman with her work on the STAR TREK: SHORT TREKS short “Q&A.”
Viacom International will release a soundtrack album for the Paramount+ animated series STAR TREK: PRODIGY tomorrow. The new series was developed by Kevin & Dan Hageman and features the voices of Rylee Alazraqui, Brett Gray, Jason Mantzoukas, Ella Purnell, Angus Imrie and Dee Bradley Baker. Kate Mulgrew reprises her role as Kathryn Janeway from STAR TREK: VOYAGER. The series follows a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search for a better future. These six young outcasts know nothing about the ship they have commandeered – a first in the history of the Star Trek Franchise – but over the course of their adventures together, they will each be introduced to Starfleet and the ideals it represents.
The series premiered today on Paramount+ with a one-hour premiere episode, exclusively for Paramount+ subscribers in the U.S. It will then air on Nickelodeon before the second season is released on Paramount+. CTV Sci-Fi Channel will broadcast the series in Canada, while the season will be released in Europe in 2022, with the expansion of Paramount+.
