STRANGER THINGS Season 3 Trailer Released

Netflix has released the trailer for STRANGER THINGS Season 3, which will premiere exclusively via Netflix’s web streaming service on July 4, 2019. The trailer shows how elements of the season’s story arc, revealed in part during the last year, will be played out in the new season.
“Mike and Eleven and are going strong, so that’s a relationship that continues, and same with Mad Max and Lucas,” said executive producer Shawn Levy, who also directs some of the new season’s episodes along with series creators the Duffer Brothers, in a story covered by The Hollywood Reporter last March. “But again, they’re like 13- or 14-year-old kids, so what does romance mean at that stage of life? It can never be simple and stable relationships and there’s fun to that instability.”
“We’ll [also] definitely get to see some more of Steve Harrington in season three, and I’ll just say we won’t be abandoning the Dad Steve magic. I don’t want to say much more, but I literally feel that we were walking along and we stumbled onto a gold mine with Dad Steve,” Levy added.
The new season takes place in 1985, with the iconic science fiction movie of that year BACK TO THE FUTURE being a noteworthy reference on the show. In a July 2018 interview with Noah Schnapp (he plays Will Byers on the series) for The Hollywood Reporter the young actor said “It’s very different this season because it’s in the summer, so you kind of get to see a different version of everyone… It’s great because it has a lot of the dark parts from season two and a lot of the light playful parts from season one.”
The new trailer reveals much of the new look, setting, and adventures of the show’s 3rd season. “From the large sets to the significant uptick in CGI to the implied emotional impacts, this trailer has everything I could’ve wanted from a series that has become one of the most beloved and anticipated events in this generation,” wrote Jonathan Barkan in a story posted today at the DreadCentral website . “It’s clear that this season will see the beloved cast face the harsh facts that growing up doesn’t always mean growing up together. And while some may want to cling to tried and true ways, others will want to break free and dive into what being a teenager offers.”
While the composing team of Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, half of the Austin band S U R V I V E and composers of the lauded scores for Seasons 1 and 2 (including the series’
Emmy-winning and Grammy-nominated main title theme music) have not yet been confirmed on Season 3’s music credits, it seems more than likely that they will be involved in the new season. At the very least, their main title music will remain essential to the series in 2019. The trailer plays out to the music of The Who (“Baba O’Riley”) and Motley Crue (“Home Sweet Home”), with Dixon and Stein’s signature synthwave theme takes over at the end.
