Animated Series STAR TREK LOWER DECKS Still Without A Composer
The upcoming Adult animated web TV series STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS web television series, created for CBS All Access by Mike McMahan, is part of the conituing expansion of the STAR TREK franchise headed by executive producer Alex Kurtzman. It is the first animated series created for All Access, and the first animated STAR TREK series since the 1973–74 series STAR TREK: THE ANIMATED SERIES.
The new animated series follows the support crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos in the year 2380. McMahan serves as showrunner of the series. It was reported today that the CTV Sci-Fi Channel will be the Canadian home to the all-new animated series.
A composer/composers for the series has not yet been announced. In an interview with Daniel Schweiger posted at Film Music Magazine earlier this year, STAR TREK DISCOVERY and PICARD composer Jeff Russo expressed interest in also composing the score for LOWER DECKS, but said that may not be possible due to his workload and the large number of STAR TREK related series being produced around the same time. He suggested that he could oversee some other composers for Lower Decks and other series if Kurtzman asked him to.
The first season of Star Trek: Lower Decks is expected to be released in 2020 and will consist of ten episodes.
