DC Universe tags Pinar Toprak to Score STARGIRL Series
In a recent interview on Score: The Podcast Pinar Toprak (CAPTAIN MARVEL, KRYPTON) revealed that she will be scoring STARGIRL, a forthcoming DC Universe superhero series. The show is based on the DC Comics superhero created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder; and is scheduled to premiere in early 2020 on the DC Universe streaming service.
Premise: After high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore discovers a powerful cosmic staff and that her step-father used to be a hero sidekick, she becomes the inspiration for a new generation of superheroes
The Stargirl character has appeared in numerous cartoon television shows and films, including guesting on the live-action shows SMALLVILLE (there played by Britt Irvin) and LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, where she is played by Sarah Grey. Brec Bassinger will play Stargirl the new DC Universe series.
Co-starring with Bassinger will be series regulars Yvette Montreal, Joy Osmanski, Neil Hopkins, Amy Smart, Neil Jackson, Trae Romano, and Hunter Sansone, with recurring super hero characters played by Luke Wilson (Stripe), Joel McHale (Starman), Lou Ferrigno, Jr. (Hourman), Brian Stapf (Wildcat), and Henry Thomas (Doctor Mid-Nite).
