PARALLEL Science Fiction Thriller Gets Distribution in December – Scored by Edy Lan

Vertical Entertainment has snagged the US distribution rights to the sci-fi thriller PARALLEL from The Realm, a division of BRON Studios, after the film made a number of festival appearances since 2018. The film is director Isaac Ezban’s English language debut but it is his third feature film, following THE INCIDENT (2014), which premiered at Cannes, and THE SIMILARS (2015), which won Best Latin American Feature Film at Sitges.  These two sci-fi odysseys earned Ezban prestige in genre filmmaking and support from filmmakers like Guillermo Del Toro and Joe Dante.

Written by first-time screenwriter Scott Blaszak, PARALLEL focuses on a group of friends stumble upon a mirror that serves as a portal to a “multiverse,” but soon discover that importing knowledge from the other side in order to better their lives brings increasingly dangerous consequences. The film stars Kathleen Quinlan, Alyssa Diaz, Mark O’Brien, Martin Wallström, Aml Ameen, and Georgia King.

The film will be released in theaters and on demand on December 11th, 2020. “PARALLEL is a film that blends genres – science fiction, horror, and even comedy – in a uniquely satisfying way,” said Rich Goldberg, co-president of Vertical Entertainment. “The ensemble cast features some fresh new faces on the brink, and we’re happy that the film will be opening this December.”

Composer/arranger/singer Edy Lan has given PARALLEL its musical score. He composed both of Ezban’s previous science fiction films, as well as Ezban’s sequence, “La cosa mas preciada,” from the 2014 anthology horror movie BARBAROUS MEXICO as well as portions of the 2020 anthology movie AZTECH, which Ezban has co-produced.
