Bear McCreary to Score GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS
In Facebook and Twitter posts today, composer Bear McCreary revealed that he has been brought on board to compose the score for the forthcoming GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS (trailer below). Scheduled for release on May 31, 2019, the film follows up on is the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse: an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history.
“I am thrilled to be the composer for GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, and honored beyond words to have the opportunity to contribute to one of cinema’s longest-running musical legacies,” Bear posted this afternoon.
McCreary, known for his television scores to BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, THE WALKING DEAD, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., BLACK SAILS, OUTLANDER, and many others, has recently become a force to reckon with in feature films, with scores to 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE, COLOSSAL, HAPPY DEATH DAY, the animated ANIMAL CRACKERS, and recently completed scoring the forthcoming supernatural thriller I STILL SEE YOU (Set nine years after an apocalyptic event that killed millions and left the world inhabited by ghosts – and you should definitely watch its provocative trailer on youtube, here)
Legendary and Warner Bros have described the new film: “The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of Huge monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species – thought to be mere myths – rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”
