Holly Amber Church Scores 80’s Slasher Throwback THE 6th FRIEND
Six college best friends barely survive a massacre at a private graduation party. Five years later, the girls gather once again and endure a night of far more horror and bloodshed… THE 6th FRIEND is an affectionate homage to 80’s slasher films which has been a long time in the making. Featuring an all-female principal cast, THE 6th FRIEND wrapped principal photography late in 2014. Recently, the Asylum announced that they would be distributing the effort theatrically, which now has an official release date of January 11, 2019.
The film features a score by Holly Amber Church, who has become noted for scoring supernatural thriller and horror films, many of which have had their official score soundtracks released by Screamworks Records, including THE TOYBOX (2018), RUIN ME (2017), THE DEVIL’S DOLLS, (2016, aka WORRYDOLLS), and RITES OF SPRING (2011). Holly’s current projects include the horror thrillers DARK LIGHT and OPEN 24 HOURS, both of which reunite her with Padraig Reynolds (director of RITES OF SPRING and THE DEVIL’S DOLLS), SEEING GREEN for director Chelsea Stardust Peters, and DADDY’S GIRL for director Julian Richards (DARKLANDS, THE LAST HORROR MOVIE). She’s also set to score David Dubos’ anthology thriller BAYOU TALES and, outside the horror genre, his inspiring biopic BUTTERFLY IN THE TYPEWRITER, both set for 2019 release.
THE 6th FRIEND features a mostly female cast and crew, directed by Letia Clouston (ALL SHE WISHES, A DOGWALKER’S CHRISTMAS TALE). Cast members include genre faves Jamie Bernadette (THE DARKNESS, WHAT NOW, AXEMAN), Dominique Swain (NAZIS AT THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, 6 WAYS TO DIE, THE MOURNING), Chantelle Albers (REAWAKENED, AXEMAN), Jessica Morris (THE DARK FIELD, ANOTHER PLAN FROM OUTER SPACE, EVIL BONG 666), Tania Nolan (UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS, AND THEN THERE WAS EVE), Monique Rosario (DRIFTER), and David Villada (6 WAYS TO DIE, BOND OF JUSTICE: KIZUNA, DESTRUCTION LOS ANGELES).
