A NEW TAKE ON HELLBOY

December 20, 2018

Reintroducing HELLBOY – with Benjamin Wallfisch settling the score.

Hellboy_2019_Motion_Teaser_Poster“The first trailer for Neil Marshall’s HELLBOY reboot is here and it’s probably nothing like what you’d expect from the movie, but trust that it’s exactly what you need.”

So writes Charles Pulliam-Moore on the io9.gizmodo web site, introducing the first trailer for Marshall’s new HELLBOY, which is scheduled for release next April.

The film introduces us to the cantankerous Hellboy (David Harbour) working alongside his still-living father Trevor Bruttenholm (Ian McShane) at the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Development. Working with partners Alice Monaghan (Sasha Lane), who possesses e magical affinity, and disagreeable soldier Major Ben Daimio (Daniel Dae Kim), Hellboy fights demons like himself, even as those demons recruit him for their war against the human race, led by demonic femme fatale Nimue the Blood Queen (Milla Jovovich).

Benjamin Wallfisch (LIGHTS OUT, ANNABELLE: CREATION, IT, BLADE RUNNER 2049) is set to compose the film’s score (he’s also scoring SHAZAM!, DC’s version of the Captain Marvel legend).

Based on the character created and written by Mike Mignola for Dark Horse Comics, Hellboy is caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles a variety of demons and creatures that threaten humanity. The character has appeared in various eponymous miniseries, one-shots and intercompany crossovers. Hellboy was adapted into two live-action feature films – HELLBOY in 2004 and HELLBOY THE GOLDEN ARMY in 2008 – both directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Ron Perlman in the title role, two straight-to-DVD animated films, and a trio of video games.

The new HELLBOY emerges from the darkness on January 11, 2019 through Lionsgate/Summit Entertainment.
